Igniter, Time Blasting Fuse with Shock Tube Capability
An olive drab plastic tube with a shipping plug and a weatherproofing plug on one end and a cotter pin and a pull ring on the other end
The M81 Igniter is used to ignite a cord that carries a detonation charge or to initiate the shock tube or M700 Time Fuse of MDI (Modern Demolition Initiator) blasting caps. To use, simply bull back the firing pin and the spring tension created forces the pin forward with enough force to set off the primer when the firing pin is released. The primer then ignites the cord, shock tube, or M700 Time Fuse secured in the end of the igniter. (The other end of the cord or the shock tube or the M700 Time Fuse is placed into the item to be detonated.)
Army M81: 5 – M81 Igniters per 6″ x 5″ x 1.5″ set-up box sealed in a barrier bag. 60 set-up boxes placed in a wood box to total 300 M81 igniters per wood box. NSN 1375-01-415-1235
Marine: 5 – M81 igniters per 6″ x 5″ x 1.5″ set-up box sealed in a barrier bag. 6 set-up boxes placed into a M2A1 can which are then placed into a wire-bound box to total 60 M81 igniters per wire-bound box. NSN 1375-01-442-0939
Note: MAST can also supply the M60 igniter upon request. The M60 Igniter is the older single use version (M700 Time fuse only). The M81 is dual purpose: it will function either as a time fuse or as a shock tube.
